About Me

Hi, I’m Haomin LUO👋

I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and my college is St. John’s College. My supervisors are Prof. Ioannis Lestas and Prof. Ruchi Choudhary (who also holds a position at The Alan Turing Institute). Prior to this, in 2024 I earned my master’s degree in AI and Energy from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (GPA 3.96, top 1%), where I received the Outstanding Student Scholarship under the supervision of Prof. Zhe (Walter) Wang. In 2020 I completed my B.Eng. in Civil Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University, where I served as leader of the university symphony orchestra and received the Mingcheng Scholarship as well as the title of Outstanding Individual.

My professional background spans both engineering and finance: I worked as an assistant engineer at the Global Delivery Center (GDC) of AECOM (2021–2022), earning the “Most Valuable Player (MVP)” award on the Sydney Gateway project. Between 2021 and 2023, I interned in the residential industry group at Soochow Securities and in the TMT group at Huatai Securities, studying equity investment in the secondary market, and also provided consulting services for private equity / venture capital (PE/VC) institutions in the primary market at Meritco Services.
